Recently I have seen the saying ‘Recession Proof Franchise’ doing the rounds. So I wanted to look into what really is this? Furthermore is there such a thing? It would look to be the ideal answer in the current hard times if there was in reality a franchise that was genuinely ‘recession proof’.

I believe a more accurate expression could be ‘recession resilient franchise’ since I have thus far to come across a trade that is guaranteed successful (though please keep me informed if you come across one as I’ll be at the front of the line ) and in actuality the responsibility is on the owner of the franchise opportunity as to whether it is a success or fails, whether franchised or non-franchised.

Types of franchise which could be classified with the expression, ‘Recession resilient franchises’ are commonly ‘must have’ services and product sales. These class of franchise often ride out the storm ably as they are perceived as needed or necessity type things as oppose to comfort products or services that could be pleasant to have but, if money is stretched, are not vital for existing.
